And I don’t mean your computer or phone. I mean us as humans, we have software and hardware. This is a widely recognized fact. It is also why we struggle with sin, why we continue to abuse and kill fellow humans. I am speaking of those who have accepted Jesus Christ but are unable to change their behaviors. When we enter this world, it is with a corrupted software. This is true because of Adam’s mistake in the Garden. I believe the hardware to be just as corrupted for the same reason.

Genesis 3:17

Then to Adam He said, “Because you have heeded the voice of your wife, and have eaten from the tree of which I commanded you, saying, ‘You shall not eat of it’: Cursed is the ground for your sake; in toil you shall eat of it all the days of your life.

So we are born in corruption, and this world is corrupted. Yet when we accept Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior, something wonderful happens – we get new software.

Romans 8:11

But if the Spirit of Him who raised Jesus from the dead dwells in you, He who raised Christ from the dead will also give life to your mortal bodies through His Spirit who dwells in you.

The problem that we face as believers is one of conflict between old and new. We run new software on old hardware.

Luckily we are not machines.

So the next time you are facing the temptation of sin remember: you can choose which is more powerful, software or hardware.
